- TUPPOTLYAPlain weave bleached cotton cloth, made in Ceylon in lengths of about 8 yards, composed of two widths joined along the selvedge. Worn by wealthy men and women as loin cloth and dress over the shoulders. Single widths called padaya made about 24-in. wide, are for the lower castes.
